Fisher Fans: Show Fastenal Some Love
Here’s the target for all Fisher Fans who want to do something concrete to help keep Sarah on the track: Fastenal.
Sarah’s sponsor for her Aug. 13 run at Kentucky is Fastenal, the fastest growing full-line industrial distributor, and the largest fastener distributor in the nation.
Here’s what you can do to show Fastenal some love.
1. Buy from the sponsors. Do the math: if 1000 people each buy $25 worth of Fastenal products at your local home-improvement store (check out the huge array of products at www.fastenal.com),that’s $25,000 in revenue directly associated with their Sarah Fisher sponsorship. If 10,000 Fisher Fans get nutty with the Fastenal stuff, that’s a quarter meeeeeyun dollars, baby. And six figures usually gets the sponsorship department’s full attention. But ya gotta let ‘em know. You have to make sure that Fastenal associates your purchase with their sponsorship of Sarah.
So make your purchases, copy the receipts and send them with a note of thanks and effusive love to the Fastenal corporate HQs:
Fastenal2001 Theurer Blvd.Winona, Minnesota 55987
Let them know you bought Fastenal stuff rather than some competing brand all because of Sarah Fisher, who Fastenal is sponsoring in the IRL. Including a copy of your receipt to really make your point.
You can also rush to the Fastenal racing site (www.fastenalracing.com) and slap the purchase on some stylish Fastenal Racing gear. I’m all over that. I already scored a Fastenal racing polo! Giddy up!
2. Attend the race. If you live within range of Sparta, going to the track is huge. Be sure you tell whoever sells you your ticket (whether on the phone or in person) that you’re there to see Sarah Fisher. It’s vital that you make a point of saying this right out loud. If just 500 fans say, “I’m here to watch Sarah Fisher race” that story will spread to the track management front office like wildfire.
If Sarah’s participation causes even a 5% increase in attendance, people will notice. It’s crucial that they credit Sarah for that attendance (an therefore revenue) spike.
3. Watch the race on TV if possible. Ratings points are an even bigger deal than track attendance because TV ratings are what generate huge money for big-time racing. Be glued to ABC at 3:30 p.m. eastern on Aug. 13.
4. Visit some Web sites. Pop over to fastenal.com. Drop in on the IRL official site. Click on stories about Sarah. Drop in on my peeps at Dryer and Reinbold Racing. Web sites keep track of traffic. A huge spike corresponding with Sarah’s participation sends a message that a lot of spending units are interested in her career.
5. Show Fastenal and DRR some love. Send Jim Benson (jbenson@fastenal.com) a love note. Jim is The Sponsor. Shoot him an email. Keep it short. Jim is a busy guy. NO SPAMMING. Thank Jim for sponsoring Sarah. Tell him you’ll look for Fastenal next time you need anything he makes. Tell him why you think Sarah rocks. Keep it short and sincere.
Then shoot over to Dryer and Reinbold Racing and use the Contact Us link to shoot Robbie “Increda” Buhl and Dennis Reinbold a memo of thanks. They’ve been working hard for Sarah.
There. Five things you can do to help Sarah. Here’s to seeing Sarah in victory lane.

Pressdog, you are so very right!!! I took down the info and will email Fastenal. I have already thanked D&R. And I WISH I could be at the race! But instead of just sitting at home watching it, I am hosting a “Downforce Viewing Party” at a local restaurant… Wearing my SARAH FISHER T-Shirt, and making sure that her name is said AFEW times. And that the volume is up on our TVs!!!
GO SARAH!!!!

I am happy to have come across your “Show Fastenal Some Love” article since you made it easy for me to email Mr. Benson (what a guy) at Fastenal. I thanked him warmly, if briefly, per your instruction. I had already been to the DRR and IRL websites, so now on to the home improvement center to pick up some Fastenal product receipts!
We just love Sarah here in Dallas and have missed her so much. We got used to seeing her twice a year at TMS an we want the four time MOST POPULAR DRIVER back on the track. So thanks for the heads up on how to help her out. Looks like we’re good for Chicago, but we need to get 2007 covered. Come on Sarah fans, we can help make it happen.

Rock and roll. Flex your purchasing power. Not sure if you can buy Fastenal stuff at Lowe’s, etc., but fastnal.com has a store locator.
